TULUM!! I am so in love with this coastline, it is like endless sandy beaches and azure waters just waiting to be explored. We started our day by biking from in town to the local ruins. For anyone planning to visit here some day, any “touristy” activities should be done as early as possible to avoid the crowds. We got to the ruins just after sunrise and were able to enjoy the peaceful rumble of the waves with a refreshing breeze. The ruins are spread out in what looks like a giant ancient golf course, but the true gem of this place is the view of the ocean over the cliffs and stairs taking you down to a hidden beach. There are iguanas just everywhere, but that is the Yucatan for you! I have heard from the locals that a lot of people tend to skip going to these ruins in favor of some of the more popular ones and I say they do not know what they are missing. We did visit some of the more tourist heavy hotspots North of Tulum and I still think this one was by far my favorite. I just love places that give you a feeling of serenity and intimacy, as if you are the only one soaking it all in, just you…and like fifty iguanas. This is just my take on things because I am a “long walks on the beach” kind of person (which should really come as no surprise at this point) who had once again found her happy place.
