Cozumel, Mexico can be very touristy as we found out walking along the main roads aligned with numerous shops and vendors yelling at you to buy all the things. So in light of taking a chance and being adventurous we got a moped and went off-roading to areas where there were more wild dogs than people. I was a bit scared but mostly excited to see what is normally unseen in Mexican rural areas. We drove pretty far out and thankfully the GPS didn’t fail or we would have been completely lost. There was just so much to see so I tried to include as much as possible in the video.
Almost out of the woods and off the muddy path the moped slipped right out from under us and I ended up with a skinned knee. Not letting that tumble dampen our spirits we did what any dirt-covered civilians would do and went snorkeling to clean off. The water was refreshing and crystal clear with little fishes swimming around in the coral. What little stress I felt from our fall earlier was easily drained away by the cool water. It may not have been the most conventional way to see Cozumel but it sure was the most thrilling travel experience I have had yet. My response to the question “Are you sure you want to spend the extra money for the moped?” will forever be “Hell yes, let’s make a memory!”
